Because tomatoes are a natural product, weights vary vastly, from tiny cherry tomatoes to giant beefsteak. This makes it difficult to provide exact figures for all varieties, so to make things easier I’ve split this page up into size categories.

Whether you’re planning a recipe or simply curious, understanding the average number of tomatoes in a pound based on their size can be incredibly useful. Cherry tomatoes are the smallest and sweetest type of tomato and are readily available in most supermarkets in various varieties.

As you can see from the image below, they vary in shape and size, so for the purpose of calculating weight I’ve used an average figure.
