# How Many Calories Are in a Slice of Bread? (UK)

When you’re counting your calories, finding out exactly how many calories are in a slice of bread can be a tricky business.

Many variables include loaf size, added ingredients, slice thickness, and how dense the bread is, so it can be impossible to pin down an exact figure.

To make things easy for you, I’ve put together average calorie values per weight and bread thickness along with calories per slice for many well-known brands which are available to buy in the UK.

Calories in a slice of shop-bought bread can range from around 45kcal for a low-calorie loaf up to 160kcal for a thick-cut bloomer. Calories per slice are heavily dependent on the loaf size and slice thickness.

As you can see, this is a wide range, so read on to find the correct calories for your slice depending on the bread type.
