Finding the right weight and calorie information can be tricky with various loaf shapes, sizes added ingredients, and not forgetting how thick the slice is.
So, in this article, I’ve categorized various bread slice weights (that I’ve weighed) in charts so you can quickly work out the weights you need.
The simple answer to the question is that a slice of bread can weigh from 25g (0.88oz) for a small thinly sliced loaf up to 80g (2.82oz) for a large thickly sliced loaf, with an average slice weighing around 35-40g (1.23-1.4oz).
Because these weights will depend on various factors, read on to find the correct weights for your favorite bread types.

To help you easily work out how much your slice of bread weighs, use the charts below to find weights depending on the size of the loaf and the thickness of the slice.
Bread is typically sold in two main sizes of loaf, although they can vary depending on the brand or bread type, so to keep things simple I’ve split the sizes into the two most-common weights.
Small Loaf – 400g (14oz)

A thin slice is the type you would expect from a small loaf, which is often sold as reduced-calorie bread, such as a danish loaf or Weight Watchers.
An extra thick slice, is more of a doorstop slice of bread, or a thick crust at the end of a loaf.
Weight of Average Slice of bread
If you’re not sure what size your bread is, or the weight of the loaf it came from, an average weight for a typical medium slice of bread, 35-40g (1.23-1.4oz).
This size of slice is typically used as standard sandwich bread, especially if you buy a ready-made pack.
