Highest Protein Peanut Butter (Compared By Brand)

Peanut butter is known for being high in protein which makes it a healthy snack choice for anyone, but it’s becoming increasingly popular with dieters and bodybuilders due to its high protein, high fat, and low-carb ratios.

But which peanut butter is highest in protein, and which should you avoid?

To find the best peanut butter for protein, I’ve collated nutritional data from dozens of grocery store brand peanut butter labels and compiled the figures into a database to help you find the best overall and the best by brand.

Read on to find out much more, including how to make the healthiest peanut butter choices and which to avoid.

Highest Protein Peanut Butter

While compiling the data for this article, I found out that all kinds of peanut butter are high in protein, with the average containing 7-8g of protein per 32g/2 tablespoon serving. However, there are a few outliers that contain additional high-protein ingredients.

The highest protein peanut butter I found (in grocery stores) is Skippy Protein (creamy & chunky varieties) which contains 10g of protein per 32g/2 tablespoon serving.

There are also online companies selling high-protein peanut butter, and you can also get powdered versions that often contain added protein.

The protein content in peanut butter doesn’t vary much from 7-8g (per 32g/2 tablespoons) because this is the amount found naturally in peanuts.

The peanut content in peanut butter ranges from around 90-100%, depending on the quality and added ingredients.

The higher protein peanut butter, containing 8g per serving, tends to be the better quality varieties with 100% peanuts or a very high percentage with just a little added salt.

Lowest Protein Peanut Butter

Peanut butter with added ingredients such as oil and sugar tends to be slightly lower in protein at around 6-7g per serving. However, it’s important to note that 6-7g is still a good amount of protein for the portion size. The lower protein varieties of peanut butter also tend to contain the most calories due to the added ingredients.

The lowest protein peanut butter I could find (available in grocery stores) is Skippy Natural (Creamy or Chunky) with Honey which contains 6g of protein per serving.

Peanut Butter Protein Content By Brand

Below is all the data you’ll need to find the peanut butter with the highest amount of protein for each brand, all of which are available in most (USA) grocery stores.

For consistency, the peanut butter I’ve compared is all ready-to-eat products and not powdered.

The table for each brand (in alphabetical order) shows the protein content for each product they produce, listed from highest to lowest in protein.
