I put this article together to help you find out the weights and calories of both crumpets and pikelets which are a thinner version of a crumpet.
Crumpets make an excellent breakfast or snack and here in the UK, you’ll find them on every bakery shelf because we just can’t get enough of them!
Read on to find out more weights and calories of crumpets, including multiples and calories for your favorite brands with or without butter.

Individual Crumpet Weight
Firstly, if you’re just looking for the weight of an average-sized individual crumpet, then it’s around 55g (1.9oz).
If you need to know a specific brand, I’ll cover this in the next section.
The table below shows, the conversion weights (in grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds) for an average-sized crumpet:
Weight Type | One average-sized crumpet |
Grams | 55g |
Kilograms | 0.055kg |
Ounces | 1.9oz |
Pounds | 0.12lb |
I also did my own research and weighed a batch of Warburtons (standard-sized) crumpets and they each varied slightly by a few grams (see image), but 55g was the average.
Most supermarket brand weights are the same and 55g per crumpet is a standard weight.

The table below shows the weights (in grams and ounces) of some of the most popular crumpet brands along with the calories per crumpet.
This information is based on pack or manufacturer nutrition details.

Pikelet weights and Calories
Pikelets are becoming more popular and are now available in many supermarkets.
I did some research into how much standard-sized pikelets weigh and the average individual shop-bought pikelet weighs 27g (0.95oz).
Because they weigh around half of the weight of standard-sized crumpet this makes pikelets a lighter alternative to crumpets. The average amount of calories in a 27g pikelet is around 52kcal.

Crumpet and Pikelet With Butter (and Jam) Calories
Crumpets and pikelets are full of holes that soak up any butter you spread on making them squidgy and extra delicious.
Because they do soak up quite a bit of butter, it can be easy to pile on the calories with lashings of butter and if you love a bit of jam that can rack up even more kcal per crumpet.
So, I’ve done some research and buttered some crumpets to find a good amount of butter and for a crumpet.
I’ve put this information in the chart below so you can see how many calories you’re consuming when you have crumpets with butter and butter and jam for a variety of brands.
This information is based on an average of 7g (52kcal) of real dairy butter per crumpet and 1 tsp (40kcal) of jam (calorie information based on average pack info):

Pikelets
Based on an average calorie amount of 52 calories per pikelet (without butter), the total calories in an average buttered pikelet would be 104kcal per serving.
For pikelets with butter and jam, the total calorie amount would be around 144kcal per pikelet.
How Many Crumpets are in a Serving?
There isn’t any specific guidance on this, but generally, two crumpets is a sufficient amount for breakfast, especially if they’re being served with butter and jam or other toppings.
The serving size of a giant crumpet would be one per serving as these contain almost double the calories of a standard crumpet.
Equipment and Information Used for This Article
I used precision scales that weigh to 0.01 of a gram which is regularly calibrated with a 100g weight. For more information see my recommended weighing scales here.
To make sure the information in this article is accurate, I researched and cross-referenced various sources (as well as original research) to obtain the correct weights and calories.
