How Much Does One Baked Bean Weigh?

I weighed a number of individual baked beans on some calibrated precision scales and I found the following;

The average baked bean (I measured Heinz) weighs between 0.6-0.65g per bean without the sauce.

Bean sizes in a can of baked beans do vary slightly, and each tin will contain some tiny beans, but the majority fall into the average weight of around 0.6g per bean.

How Many Beans are in a Can

I counted all of the baked beans in a 415g can of Heinz baked beans and the total amount of beans in the can came to 432 individual beans.

The bean content in this can of beans is 51% and the rest of the contents is made up of sauce.

432 beans is an average figure and will vary between each can because beans come in various sizes and are measured by weight and not per individual bean.

Baked Bean Weight FAQs

What is the Net Weight of a Can of Baked Beans?

Baked bean weights are classified as ‘net’ on the labeling. The net weight of a can of beans is equal to the total weight of the baked beans including the sauce but without the tin weight. If the tin weight was included, this would be the gross weight.

What are the Heinz Baked Beans Tin Sizes?

Heinz Baked Beans are available in our shops in four main can sizes, which are 150g, 200g, 300g, and 415g. Flavored beans such as chili, curry, and barbecue all weigh 390g (for standard-sized cans). The 415g and 390g cans contain two servings and the smaller sizes are sold as one serving.

Equipment and Information Used for This Article

I used precision scales that weigh to 0.01 of a gram which is regularly calibrated with a 100g weight. For more information see my recommended weighing scales here.

To make sure the information in this article is accurate, I researched and cross-referenced various sources (as well as original research) to obtain the correct weights and calories.
