# Canned Pineapple Weights & Calories (With Charts & Calculator)

In this article, I’ve put together a calculator and charts so you can quickly work out the exact weights and calories of various portions of canned pineapple, including sliced and chopped weights.

Canned pineapple is usually sold in slices and chunks which are canned in either juice or syrup.

If you’re looking for weight and calorie information on fresh pineapple rather than canned, click the link below to go to my fresh pineapple article:

Fresh Pineapple Weights & Calories (In Charts)

Please note that the figures in this article are based on an average and because pineapple is a natural product, each chunk or slice will vary slightly in weight. Weights will also depend on brand – for information, I used Del Monte canned pineapple for the information in this article.

## How Much Does a Canned Pineapple Chunk Weigh?

I weighed pineapple chunks from a can to find an average weight per chunk and here are the results:

The average weight of a canned pineapple chunk is around 8g/0.28oz per chunk. A canned pineapple chunk of this weight which is canned in juice contains 5 calories (in kcal) and a chunk of this weight canned in syrup contains 6 calories (drained weight).

## How Much Does a Canned Pineapple Slice Weigh?

I also weighed canned pineapple slices to find an average weight per slice and here are the results:

The average weight of a canned pineapple slice is around 32.5g/1.15oz per slice. A canned pineapple slice of this weight which is canned in juice contains 20 calories (in kcal) and a slice of this weight canned in syrup contains 24 calories (drained weight).

## Canned Pineapple Weight and Calorie Calculator

Use the calculator below to work out the weight and calories for your serving of canned pineapple.

This calculator uses the assumption that pineapple canned in juice contains 63kcal per 100g/0.63kcal per gram and pineapple canned in syrup contains 75kcal per 100g/0.63kcal per gram (as per can information).

Weights and calories are based on the canned pineapple being drained of juice or syrup.

## How Much Canned of Pineapple is Juice/Syrup?

If you need to know how much of the contents of canned pineapple is fruit and how much is juice or syrup, then here’s the information:

A 435g/15.3oz can of canned pineapple contains 260g/9.2oz of fruit once drained of all liquid and a 230g/8.1oz can of pineapple contains 140g/4.9oz of fruit when drained.

## How Many Slices/Rings are in a Can of Pineapple?

I counted the slices from a 435g/15.3oz can of pineapple slices (or rings) and the can contained 8 slices in total.

Each slice weighs around 32.5g/1.15oz and contains 20 calories (in kcal) if canned in juice and 24 calories if canned in syrup (once drained).

## How Many Chunks are in a Can of Pineapple?

I counted the slices from a 230g/8.1oz can of pineapple chunks and the can contained 18 chunks in total.

Each chunk weighs around 7.8g/0.28oz and contains 5 calories (in kcal) if canned in juice and 6 calories if canned in syrup (once drained).

## Does Canned Pineapple Have More Calories than Fresh Pineapple?

Fresh pineapple contains 50 calories in kcal per 100g/3.53oz, whereas canned pineapple in juice contains 63kcal per 100g (once drained) or 75kcal per 100g if it’s canned in syrup.

This means that fresh pineapple contains fewer calories than canned pineapple and if you opt for the canned options and you’re looking for a lower calorie option, choose pineapple which is canned in juice rather than syrup.
